The perfect book for my avid media composer software. The service I receive getting this book was excellent and would recommend this seller to future buyers. Excellent Book for those who want to learn Avid Media Effects. Quick delivery, item just as described. I have been waiting 20 years for an Avid Effects book of the high standard of this. You don't how helpful this book has been to ease the pressure of creating effects.
This has never been done this successfully before in my 20 year Avid editing career. With the others in the series, it's the best Avid publication ever, and written in an easy to understand, and humorous manner. Even though it does not address the latest software, David East has done a superb job in presenting foundational and advanced information that the Avid Editor must know.
I eagerly await the updated version for MC 7. Don't miss this book, it worth every penny. I would recommend them to everyone. All of these instructional book are great Will be buying more soon. The book is about perfect for that task. It includes step by step instructions on how the effects work. The book comes with a DVD of real media materials and shows how to edit and add effects to produce professional products.
Each chapter ends with a sample quiz from the certification exam. The book hits both the academic and hands-on aspects of learning. The book might also be of interest to the casual Avid Media Composer user or the individual generally interested in software editing techniques and packages.
The author, David East, has a very nice writing style that is engaging and conversational in tone. He liberally uses humor to make his points. All in all, it is an excellent product, and it is a must buy if you are studying for the professional certification. I highly recommend this book. By the time I finish writing this review, the turf will probably have changed, but as of now mid it is one of the few programs that can be considered one of the industry standards. The editors and authors of this book have decided to divide their book on MC 6 into several separate books which was probably a wise decision -- doesn't feel like a publisher's decision to squeeze more money out of a release.
Several books on a program this large is more practical. Easier on the hands. What we have here is an expert, nicely-sequenced, and clear walk-through of basic to intermediate functions for MC 6 relating to picture and sound editing.
It is all about real-world applications, using some fun examples in the process. I found the section on multilayered video compositing really helpful. This is not the most scintillating prose you will ever encounter, but the author tries for a friendly and accessible tone -- for this he gets some props.
If you are looking for something that is part reference and part "learn-to" you should probably pick this one up. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries.
